Nice to meet you.
And thanks for your purchase. Since 2010, we've worked to become experts in bicycle wheels:
2010:
Began sales of
handbuilt aluminum clinchers (the FSW) and carbon tubulars (the RFSW)
. We offered them with November hubs as well as upgrades to Chris King and PowerTap, and as a discounted "portfolio" - beginning the "1 bike, 2 sets of wheels" philosophy we still champion.
2011:
We
led the charge to wider rims
, switching from 15mm inside widths to 18mm with our FSW 23 wheelsets.
2011:
Started testing disc brakes for cyclocross
, a year before all but a few pro and elite racers, and several years before most brands even had them available.
2013:
Developed our first proprietary rim design -
a carbon clincher called the RAIL 52
.
2013:
Took the
RAIL 52 to the A2 Wind Tunnel
where it tested very favorably against the world's leading designs.
2013:
Wind tunnel tested the aerodynamic benefit of
bladed spokes vs double-butted
.
2014:
Designed and tested our second proprietary rim design -
a shallower carbon clincher called the Rail 34
.
2014:
Also the first (and we believe only) to test the
aerodynamic impact of popular alloy wheels
.
2014:
We also helped people get smart about
how wider tires affect aerodynamics
.
2014:
Heat tested carbon clinchers
in real world conditions. Later built a jig with an 800 watt electric motor to heat test in the lab.
2015:
Introduction of our Nimbus Ti hubs
, for rim and disc brakes. Made for us in the USA by White Industries.
2015:
Became advocates for
tubeless over tubular for cyclocross
, after extensive testing of various tire and rim combinations.
2016:
Introduced the
Centerlock Disc Rotor Shim
- a handy set of spacers to keep your rotors from rubbing when you switch wheels.
2017:
Began
Rim Reviews on our blog
, in response to growing interest in custom wheelsets from our customers. We've since added many hub, rim and even brake pad reviews as well.
2018:
Introduced the
RCG36 (Road, Gravel, Cross)
carbon disc wheelset, the first of a new line of semi-custom options.
2019:
Expanded semi-custom offerings and to include
rim brake
and
MTB
wheelsets as well.
2020 - 2022:
With little to sell because of supply chain issues, we redoubled educational content on the blog, making it our mission to help cyclists make smart wheelset choices.
So that's our story. If you'd like to see what's next in real time you can subscribe to our product notifications, promotions, fresh blogs and other news.
